Falmouth Museums on the Green is at 55 Palmer Ave. off SR 28 at the Village Green. Two 18th-century houses contain furniture, fine art, toys and textiles; exhibits depicting 19th-century whaling; a colonial kitchen; a display about pre-Civil War medicine; and a room that chronicles the life of Katharine Lee Bates, Falmouth-born poet of "America the Beautiful." The Hallett Barn Visitor Center houses changing exhibits and vintage clothing. Colonial and herb gardens are part of the 2-acre complex.
Guided tours are available.

Heritage Museum & Gardens

Heritage Museum & Gardens is at Grove and Pine sts. off SR 130. The complex comprises 100 acres of landscaped grounds and several buildings with exhibits pertaining to American history. The Art Museum houses a display of folk art and contains a restored 1912 carousel; the American History Museum includes antique toys, the Native American Gallery, a Cape Cod Baseball League exhibit, military-related miniatures, firearms and flags; and the Round Stone Barn displays the J.K. Lilly III Antique and Vintage Car Collection, with automobiles dating from 1899.
Gardens, nature trails, a labyrinth, maze and mill dating to the 1800s are on the grounds. Interactive displays amuse adults as well as children.
Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.

Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, 2 mi. w. of SR 124 at 869 SR 6A, has an aquarium, two floors of exhibits, a library and three nature trails along which native fauna and flora can be seen. Educational programs and nature trips are scheduled year-round.
